Grand News – May Edition It’s amazing what a little moisture and some heat will do. The course is greening up nicely. The rain was received well by the course and should only accelerate the greening process. We were blessed with good weather, and a lot of people came out to enjoy the course in April. The course will be even better in May! #8 Construction We are happy to announce that the hole 8 construction has been completed. Now the fairway just needs some time to grow and we can get back to playing it from the regular tee. We would like to thank you all for your patience during this growing period of the course. Fish Fry Friday, May 29th –Dinner starts at 5:30 – drink specials from4-7pm. Cost for a delicious fish dinner is Perch 4 pieces $11 Perch 6 pieces $13 Haddock 2 pieces $11 Haddock 3 pieces $13 Dinner includes french fries or baked potato, coleslaw, rye bread, and homemade desserts! Dual Pin Weekend! – Friday, May 29th – Sunday, May 31st Have you ever played big cup golf? If not, the last weekend of May is your chance to give it a try! For three days we will have regular cups and big cups with pins on each green. You choose which you would rather play, or play 9 of big cup and 9 of regular. Should be a ton of fun for all groups who can make it out over the weekend. Annual Grand View Stroke Play Tournament –July 25th & 26th More details to come. Open to the public – 18 holes Saturday & 18 holes on Sunday. Flights and prizes for all skills and abilities Fling Golf comes to Grand View Fling Sticks are available for rent and each rental includes a small bag of range balls so you can get the hang of it. FlingGolf is a great way for friends and family to enjoy the course even if not everyone is a regular golfer. It’s really easy to get the hang of and it’s a blast! See more on our website
Notice The Annual Meeting will be December 8 this year. We are looking to replace two board members whose term is expiring. We are looking for new blood interested in participating on the board. Let’s All Have A Party Sunday Nov 16th 12:00 Noon – Assuming there is not snow on the ground we will have a cross country golf tournament. Get a chance to play Grand View like you never have before! 3:00 – Chili Dump, half-priced drinks, Packer Game on the new big screen, and a proper thank you to Jeff, Roy, and Lenny for all they have done for the course over the years. Please bring some chili to dump in the pot – hors d’oeuvre and homemade desserts are not required, but much appreciated. Everyone is welcome – bring a friend! Wish Lenny, Roy & Jeff the best on their getting out of the golf course management (they are officially done the 15th). Our hope is we get them all back at the bar & doing a little bartending as well next year. Jeff has agreed to get the new superintendent going next spring. Grand View Board
Grand View Golf Club June 2014 Newsletter New Website The course’s website has gotten a fresh face lift and quite a bit of new content. Going forward this will allow us to be able to update the website more easily and take full advantage of the web in exposing our wonderful course to potential customers. This software will allow us to better manage all of your emails and the best part is people can go ahead and add themselves to the list by signing up on our website. You will also be able to manage your own account should your email address change or if for some reason you no longer wish to receive our newsletter. Like us on Facebook The club is also trying to do more promotion on facebook about upcoming events and deals. This is a great way for the club to get this information out at no cost to members and potential customers. The more people that like our facebook fan page and share and like our statuses the more effective this channel of communication is. Fish & Steak Fries The club is once again holding its Friday night fish and steak fries. These are a great way to get up to the club and socialize with your friends and family and a great way to end the work week. Below is the schedule of the upcoming eventsJune 13th – Steak FryJune 27th – Fish FryJuly 11th – Steak FryJuly 25th – Fish FryAugust 8th – Steak FryAugust 22nd – Fish Fry Stroke Play Tournament The board has set the dates for the annual stroke play championship for June 28th and29th. Cost will be $25 for members or $61/walking $75/riding for non-members. This includes 36 holes of golf, prizes, and food and drinks after Sunday’s round. To sign up please stop up at the clubhouse. This is an event for EVERYONE of all skill levels. There will be divisions for all skill levels and really is a fun event. Tee times are early on Saturday and Sunday mornings so you can compete and still have time in the afternoon to work on that to-do list or spend the afternoon up at the clubhouse enjoying some nice cold beverages and watch the Brewers – the choice is yours!
